Intense cycles have always been at the forefront of pioneering mountain bike design. As the current furore for prototype 29″ wheeled mountain bikes blew up, many people forgot that Jeff Steber, owner and chief brain behind Intense, had produced a DH bike with big wheels as far back as 2009.
At EWS Rotorua back in march, Jack Moir was spotted on another prototype 29er. The bike looked to be in the same stable as the much lusted after Tracer, long, low and slack. This week, the cat was let out of the bag and the new Carbine 29 was unveiled.
The bike has 155mm rear wheel travel, featuring the new enduro link suspension, perfected by Jeffs now legendary approach to prototype testing (weld a frame, ride, refine) Matched to a 160mm fork and obviously 29 inch wheels.
The Carbine will come in 5 different frame and price options ranging from £3900 foundation build right up to the £9000 factory spec model. Check out the video below to see the Carbine in action
